uhohhh

Gearbox has started crunching into fourth :worried: I dont even use the damn thing properly like it should be

Get it to the dealers dude. They can tell almost straight away what's wrong (in our case it took them an hour) then they gotta ask Renault if they'll authorise a change. Shouldn't be too difficult to get a new one.

Mine crunches 1st > 2nd most days but nothing on 4th yet. If i still have the car in another year im tempted to deliberately "kill" the box prior to the warranty expiring just for peace of mind as i know its a question of when, not if it dies.

Its appalling tbh. My mate has a bottom of the range berlingo van and cains the absolute **** out of it 24/7, slamming it into gears without clutch etc.

Im the one with the "track car" that i pootles around town in and it dies...again! already had the slave cylinder done!

Does the 200 suffer the same as the 197? Had the box changed in my old 197, thought it would have been sorted for the 200's.

Sorry to hear this dude. :worried: Suprised especially because you have a 200 where like 197 said I thought the 200 boxes had better boxes and didn't have any synchro problems unlike 197s.

I drive my 197 8-12 miles a day mon-fri and drive it a bit at weekends and I so far only suffer the usual 3rd gear synchro crunching when giving it beans. I'm like you most of my driving is urban.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you with your clio 200 very low milleage on the clock and tht u do per day. If I was you I would look on the positive side, your car is still under warranty so use that to your advantage and get the box changed. Express how dissappointed you are with you current experience.

Sounds like your friend with the berlingo van apsolutely hammers his box especially if he doesn't use the clutch much when changing gear. lol

Considering clio 197 & 200 are track cars and designed to be driven hard they should have re-inforced boxes that can with stand the stresses and strains.

Hope you get it fixed mate.

Its off to Wests in Cambridge Arron. As its only round the corner from work it makes things a little easier for me rather than taking it to Smiths in peterborough even though they are a RS specialist.

Certainly is frustrating but fingers crossed its all sorted without any issues just like any other time its been in  Bring on Tuesday!

exact same as me pal, 4th gear syncro went in my 59 reg 200. At only 16.000 miles gearbox and slave cylinder replaced no question asked very common problem. The rs tech guy recommend changeing the gearbox oil on the new box after 2000 miles get rid of all the steel particals .
