Telephone lines

Goooooooooooooood afternoon gentlemen....ladies *tips cap*

Question.

Ive got tv/internet being installed into my new place today....well the bits are coming, ill plug them all in.

Only problem is #1 its TalkTalk, and #2 its an old house.

Phoneline master socket is by the front door. Not near any plug sockets nor where i need it to be. Typical of a building built when phones had just been invented lol.

Will i be causing problems with internet speed by running a generic extension cable from the master socket 5m into the living room where i can have the router, phone, and tv all plugged into each other in the same place?

If so what is the best remedy?

yes and no.

yes your speed will drop but not by much and no if your speed is good enough going in.

we live in a small country village so the speed is naff, i've split the signal so downstairs is internet only and the upstairs is phone only.

it helps but not by much.

Could be worth a try. If not ill have to see about getting the master socket moved i guess.

One of the extensions from Argos will do the job?
