Steering Fault

Was driving into town yesterday, creeping past a police car on the main Parkway. Felt like I went over a slight bit of broken road surface - steering went heavy.

STOP light comes on and warning saying Steering Fault comes up. Shot across to a bus layby, and turned it off. After considering phoning the RAC I just restarted it and it was fine again.

Has this happened to anyone else at all? What are people's thoughts?

Never had anything like that myself, maybe just a gremlin in the system? Has it been ok since?

If you're worried, then maybe get somebody to stick it on diagnostics and see if it's thrown up any fault codes.
