Hi guys on a front wheel drive car dose a spoiler help the handing. But with no front spliter do you lose grip on the front as looking to buy thanks

A spoiler is meant to keep the rear stuck to the deck at speed, they are quite tail happy at times but i would say they probably do make a difference. Its probably going to be hard to notice unless your on track constantly.

I'd be very surprised if you ever noticed the difference on the road, and even on track for that matter. They aren't particularly big spoilers (if your talking about Clio cup ones) unless your really shifting (100mph+) I'd say.

If your on about other cars with bigger wings then it would be possible to have too much rear downforce causing the nose to lift, but again you'd need decent speeds and a hefty wing. But I'm no aerodynamicist...

most of the VLN cup cars run without them at the Nordschliefe

I cant seem them doing anything , even if they did i would want the rear loose not having more grip than it already does so you can flick it into track corners a little to get the rear moving to aid front turn in.

i did read somewhere that at 100kmh the rear diffuser creates 40kgs of downforce but again if i dropped it off and lapped the ring without it would i really notice .

i guess its all the little things right ?

The only cars Ford made with actual functional spoilers were the Escort Cosworth and the 3 door Sierra Cosworths and look at the size of those ones.

At road speeds on normal car they will make little to no difference.

I wonder what the increase in drag the cup spoiler makes?

Extra weight and extra drag..... Cup spoiler'd cars slower?!?!

seriously no bullsh@t,after fitting my sprint spoiler my car won't pull the top end speeds it used to,believe what u like but i'm adamant its took the edge off my top end

You might have beaten angel then had you taken it off first

ha ha,good point :ban:,honestly my car still pulls the speeds it did in roads and weather conditions i use to measure it on but when it gets up to mach 1 its about 5mph shy of where it used to be,kind of hits a brick wall, could be in my head and no day is ever the same but thats how it feels

This! I'm running half worn tyres at the back and I'm loving it..

The rear has plenty of grip without a spoiler, really can't see you getting anymore with a spoiler. I think all it'll do is increase the drag and slow you down!

But, having said that most of these mini spoilers you see on road cars these days are actually there to disrupt the airflow in a way that it reduces drag. If you look at top of the clio tailgate without a spoiler you'll notice it actually flicks up a tiny bit, that's to reduce drag!

Having a flick up on the spoiler/boot INcreases drag, it's in the way of air causing a pocket for air.
