197: Service costs? I know its been asked a gazillion times...

Just getting a quite from Two Techs for a major service on my 197, including sparks etc... but not belts or 'box oil. I really rate their service so prepared to pay a bit more than normal but What should I expect?

Most estimations I can find on here are a year or two old.

I wouldn't expect to pay more than £300 all in. Basically you are doing oil, oil filter, plugs, pollen filter and air filter. You can supply the consumables/parts yourself to keep costs down, plugs cost around £30 (OEM) from ebay, get the oil from oilman in here and you are sorted:smile:

As Yiannis has said, £300 all in sounds about right. I had a ring round out of curiosity, Not sure exactly as it was back in May but I think Renault quoted me around the £320-£340 mark, Local specialist was a fair bit cheaper. Always get my local garage to do mine though as I know/trust the guy there and the price is always good, think I ended up paying about half of what Renault quoted and that was with parts I asked for minus the air filter (I have a k&n fitted)
Is it worth having a interim service after 6 months ? I've only covered 3k since my major service in May ?

The scheduled servicing should be fine to be honest. An interim oil change might be a good idea if you've done a few track days for example, but otherwise the standard servicing period will be ok.

supply your parts and do your brakes yourself if you can..this way you know they have been done...right jimmyd81??

Good news... quoted, can't remember now to the exact pound but something like 239. Going to get brakes done at the same time as mine have the usual sticking and just don't have time to do myself.

lol don't tease him!!!

had to put it out there

Very sound advice there definitely! If you can't do it yourself then make sure you're very specific with what you want doing!

Or you can end up getting shafted, as Pav and Chris91 have so politely highlighted :001_rolleyes:

 well I'm happy knowing that my misfortune can benefit others, I'll take one for the team!
