Random external temperature and heaters blowing cold

Another strange issue I've been having.
The outside air temp gauge slowly but steadily rises by a degree every 30 seconds or so and at the same time the heaters blow cold.
I am guessing the temp sensor in the mirror has died and is confusing the climate control system?

Anybody had similar?

Had this on my 172 ! Was the ambient temp sensor on the mirror that had went faulty.

I had similar in my 200, was getting readings of up to 50 degrees, same as above had sensor in the wing mirror changed and works fine now.
