Quick write up - Enhancement Detail on Arctic Corsa VXR

First up, please excuse the quality of the pics - my camera is awful indoors for some reason :worried:

I spent 8 hours or so on Sunday, bringing a bit of life back into the paintwork on this Arctic Corsa VXR.

The car looked generally clean, but otherwise it wasn't too bad... or so it seemed...

A few befores:

First up, wheels, tyres and arches were cleaned with G101 and various brushes:

The car was then:

- Washed with Optimum Car Shampoo
- Rinsed, then tar was treated to Autosmart Tardis

I then used Wolf's Decon Gel all over the car, to remove the iron contaminants embedded into the paintwork.

Next up, the car was clayed with BH Auto Clay with water as lube, then rewashed, dried and the paintwork was assessed.

The paint thickness readings all over the car were a very normal 180 or so.

However... after working my way around the car with my spotlight, I noticed...

Quite a bit of overspray there!!!

Also, in general the paintwork was very swirly, and covered in RDS:

Lifeless paint:

Pretty bad condition really.

I started off hoping my new favourite combo of a 3M Yellow pad and Scholl S17+ would work a treat on this paintwork, but the polish residue was very sticky and difficult to remove and problematic to work. I had the same issue with Menzerna 3.02 on various pads.

I finally settled for Megs 105 on a 3M Yellow pad, which finished down surprisingly well for a polish with so much cutting potential - a real testament to the flexibility of this polish.

Remember the overspray and colour mismatch...

Not perfect, but at least the colour matches now...

I finished up with:

- Opti Seal on the wheels
- 3M Tyre dressing on the tyres
- 3M Glass Cleaner
- Wolf's Body Wrap on paintwork

Some afters (again, excuse the pic quality) :worried:

Thanks for reading

Russ.

Cheers!

Indeed, the colour match we were hoping was down to UV damage or oxidisation and could be polished out, but it couldn't :worried:
