OBD software?

Coming from VAG group cars I used to use VAGCOM (or VCDS as it is known now), is there any decent Renault equivalent for fault code readings and data logging?

VCDS will work in generic OBD mode on the Clio for the engine ECU.

For access to other ECUs you will need CLIP (equivalent to VAS) or the VCDS equivalent is RSTuner from http://fastchip.nl/
