New HU

So had the clio 2 weeks now and after some careful consideration I've decided that the head unit has to go! There is letter to no bass and the distortion at higher volumes is terrible. Think I've settled on a replacement but wondering if there's a way to retain the steering wheel controls?

Oh yes, you need a connects2 adapter that plugs into the canbus system and stereo. On the tablet atm difficult to link you to it but just google connects2.

This is where it can be a bit tricky, just to be sure you cars an 11 plate 200?

The older cars didn't use a full canbus system but all the 200's need this one http://www.connects2.co.uk/ProductInformation.aspx?id=10749&p=CTSRN007.2 as far as I'm aware.

The connects2 website is a bit confusing http://www.connects2.co.uk/VehicleProducts.aspx?Manufacturer_ID=46&Model_ID=147 or should I say unhelpful? as it lists two devices and they overlap.

It's always worth dropping an email to them or whoever you buy one from though to be sure, you then just need another cheap small lead which is specific to the brand of HU you buy that plugs into the connects2 unit.

Ah sorted that looks alot like what I might need i was looking at totally different items haha. wheres the reg no search?? thanks for your help and just one last question  I will need a facia adapter won't I, looks like the radio is slightly wider than a din sized hole.

Yup OEM radio isn't standard 1 DIN, check ebay for a Megane one they're dirt cheap.

So do you buy direct from C2? Also how much are they?

This was the only thing holding me back from ditching the HU. Finding a way to retain the steering wheel controls was a nightmare. Kept getting different advice from different sources.

Not sure if you can buy direct but there are plenty of online shops selling them, they're about £40 now it seems for just the connects2 thing.

I found it a mine field when I did mine, ended up taking the stereo out first before buying anything.

This was my shopping list when doing mine, this is why never deleting emails is good

Some other things that are useful are some plastic trim tools and some electrical tape for tidying it all away.

Another bit of advice I found helpful was remove the centre vents so you can tidy the cables away, plenty of room to get your hand in I found and I ain't exactly small haha, also I ha to order a patch lead for a kenwood stereo (comes with the steering wheel adapter lead) 39.99 for both parts

@Deadmau5 Well you may be in luck they appear to be out of stock have to wait 5 days til they get them in then another 2 for postage :worried: you do have the Canbus leads with mini Iso and kenwood patch cable?, don't have a facia adapter do you?

Okay so now things get serious! I bought an adapter from deadmau but unfortunately it is slightly different than the one I need I have a single mini iso plug and the one supplied is 1 of a set of 3
All I need from a kind member is the pin layout of a connects2 adapter so I can change the Pinout and wiring to suit my radio

I am pretty sure I only need two wires to connect to the new radio (kenwood) but just need to know where they are in the plug and what colour they are

Unfortunately that's the wrong plug that plug is the power and loudspeaker connections I have found a site which lists the Pinout for an iso 10487 plug http://pinoutsguide.com/CarAudio/car_audio_iso_pinout.shtml
But as with most electrical items car manufacturers love making things different for their own equipment. The plug I am referring to is "C" in the diagram and I think that only pins 11&12 are required although would require confirmation before potentially damaging my new stereo

Oh my goodness gracious me, which adaptor do I need? I have a 2009 Clio 200, Halfrauds suggested CTSRN006, it's all just too complicated, nothing makes sense anymore. It could be anyone of 3 from reading the posts. Is it easier just to take the head unit out?

Defo take the head unit out and there's a plug by itself which is the one needed for remote control either a single block or 2-3 separate plugs I have an adapter cable I can't use if its the one you need, if you can post a picture of the cable in the back of your radio I could confirm it.

This is the problem I had, the black connector is the renault one and the yellow is the connect2 cable
