Hey,

Here's the start of my thread, It's going to be getting her back up to scratch so detailing, paint etc and then some performance mods later on.

More to come this weekend.

Peace.

front splitter doesn't suit it and looks rubbish OJ (you want to sell it me lol)

nice clio mate like it alot.

Thanks guys!

At first I was not sold on the front splitter but I like it now.

Really excited to get the mirrors badges and splitter gloss blacked

If you have the front splitter you need the side skirts IMO, and then if you have them two, you need the cup spoiler haha.

Nice car though mate.

Splitter looks awesome. I'd love to add the skirts to mine but can't justify the price :worried:

Also loving the plate!

i was only saying that so he sold it me lol think it looks mint.

Thanks everyone!

I'm not sold on the side skirts really...who knows.

I know the plan is carbon splitter on the front eventually and maybe bonnet if I can stretch to it.

The spoiler is a MUST. Once I've sorted out the cosmetics and mechanics of what's on it now, then I'll start chasing parts.

I'm thinking white inlet with black detailing

Thanks all!

Just been out for a drive and it is really nice to be back in a Clio again...It's very different to turbo power...hmmm *sparks idea*

Ha, must. not. turbo.

So, I managed to get the weekend to do he car...the mrs decided to go shopping! WIN

For those who are interested, the process: (pics to follow when I can grab them)

Foamed with AutoFinesse Avalanche. Good product if you need some good TFR breakdown and don't mind it a bit thin. I like it thin, get in everywhere and help the dirt run off.

While that was working, I used some APC to clean all the trims...very black as you can imagine. No pics :'(

Cheeky rinse and re-foam then onto the wheels.

Cleaned the alloys with AutoSmart Smart wheels....needed a few hits to get them clean. They were brown, :tongueout:. Tyres were cleaned...well attempted with APC but the shine put on by the garage was in tents so I'll need to with them with Isopropanol.

Then all the grills and badges were agitated with remaining foam and some more trusty APC.

Before washing the car I decided to do the exhausts. They were so bad, I had to sand them with 240g and polish them with my corded drill and a polishing attachment. Meguires NXT was used for this.

The car was then rinsed and washed. This was the standard two bucket method with Detail My Car's new lammswool mitt and BriteMax CleanMax. Door **** were cleaned with APC and a detail brush.

The car was rinsed...

Not as bad as I would have thought but well worth it.

The car was rinsed and then AutoSmart Tardis was applied, being sure to shield the decals but not the rear badge. Around it was full of muck and oxidisation so off it came for some polishing. I'll pop the newer one on later.

The car was then rinsed, re-foamed and rinsed to make sure all chemicals were of the car skin and out of the cracks ready for claying. Not sure if anyone has clayed a car with Tardis on the paint...the clay tends to dissolve onto the paint. lol

The paint was FULL or cr@p and I only had mild clay, so clay round two will be in a month or so.

The worse part was...the previous owner decided to paint the handles, mirrors and vents ON the car...so the over spray was outrageous. Took me an hour for just the drivers side...and there is some in the door shut. I'll be taking the doors off then.

After this, re-foamed once again and dried with a waffle weave towel. No QD/drying aid at this point as it was time for some polishing. An airline was used to get all the water clear of the gaps.

For the polishing, I was pushed for time so I went for Scholl Concepts S40 Anti-swirl polish on Scholl SoftTouch Black waffle pads via rotary.

The process was:

1 pass at speed one to spread
3 passes at speed three
Finish down on speed one to jewel it up!

This gave me about 90% correction so I was super chuffed with that, thought she was going to be a lot harder than that.

Gave her another wash and dry to get rid of any polish and attacked the old polish marks on the trim with a rubber and IPA.

Hopefully not bored you yet...

Then she got a quick coat of CarPro Reload. Amazing stuff this! Spay on, wipe off. 4 month silica coating for no effort. Beading and sheeting is amazing and looks great on white.

And done.

I'll take her out to get some proper pics soon!

Cant wait to correct the rest and sort the paint bits out.

Peace.

Added a few pics of the process. I'll have a go at getting some proper pics this weekend. Also, I filled in the curb marks on the wheels with matt black paint just to hide the silver until they get refurb'd.

Looks thorough mate! Iron-X seemed to bring up along eh mate. What's all the white marks on the trim?

Iron X is a good step to do man. I though it would be worse but seeing as all that white on the trim (compound residue) I guess a lot of is was polished out.

That's why if you're using certain compounds/polishes, it's best to tape up the trims
