Le Mans 24hrs!

Been watching this on and off while it has been on. Been an eventful race to say the least, especially for Audi!

Allan McNish had a massive crash for them http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/11/...18-tdi-le-mans-crash/?a_dgi=aolshare_facebook

Rockenfella had another http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/11/second-audi-r18-out-of-le-mans-as-rockenfeller-involved-in-huge/

But the still brought it home to victory and only 15 seconds ahead of 2nd place... After 24hrs of racing that is a tight margin!!!

:cloud9:

if the audi had gone over the crash rail.....would have been a few deaths very very lucky

sorry for being morbid ....

when was the last time someone was killed in a race? They says racing is a dangerous sport, but its been a long time since I remember a death. Maybe not as dangerous as theyre making out...

just a though

John Surtees Son Henry was the last to be killed in 2009 i believe, in formula 2

Marshalls were very lucky!
There were two deaths either last year or year before, one guy got hit on head by a wheel which i think was John Surtess' son and the other was a Supersport rider at brands. Oh and then there's the TT, but that's a bit extreme.

There are alot more, these are 2010 alone. The one that stands out most for me is Shoya, as I was watching when it happened

2010 Shoya Tomizawa @ GP Misano back in september
2010 Simon Exton (GBR) Snetterton
2010 Myles Byrne (IRL) Skerries 100
2010 Stephen Larkin (NIR) Kells Road Race
2010 Peter Lenz (USA) Indianapolis Motor Speedway
2010 Shoya Tomizawa (JPN) San Marino Grand Prix
2010 Victor Gilmore (NIR) Killalane
2010 Pascal Grosjean (SWI) Dubai Autodrome
2010 Peter Lenz (USA) GP Indianapolis, 125 Class

Edit: These are all bikers FYI. Still trying to find car racing drivers

List of car/truck racing deaths (I understand that alot of these are road racing based and circuit racing is *safer*)

I remember that gp rider Tomizawa. There's obviously more than get publicised, not surprising really.
