Last few days with the 197 :(

The time has come to part with the 197, its been a brilliant 2 and 1/2 years but the cost is just too much now :worried:

£260 tax £70 a week petrol and £1200 to insure = drain on money

so ive decided to trade in for a BMW 1 series 120d m-sport, which suprised me is much cheaper to run and insure then a clio.

Ball park figure for the beemer?

I get a feeling i'm going to repeat what i've just put in another thread.....

Right heres the math:

clio tax £260 + insurance £1200 total = £1460
beemer tax £165 + insurance £860 total = £1025

Thats a saving of £435 a year on tax and insurance.

Now for fuel, i have gone off £60 a week with petrol priced at £1.30 (£5.85 per gallon) for the clio and diesel at £1.40 (£6.30 per gallon) for the beemer:

clio £60 = 244 miles (using my current mpg of 24 and 24p per mile)
Beemer £60 = 373 miles (using 40 mpg which is what it showed and 15p per mile)

Thats 129 more miles or a svaing of £30.96 for every £60 worth of diesel.

i use approximatley £60 of fuel a week so that means i will save £123.84 every month on fuel which is £1486.08 a year.

So in one year i will save £1921.08 (give or take a few £ due to decimal places when working out fuel)

This means in 2 years i would have easily got my 3k back.

Love Bm's and really miss mine. You feel your driving something that every nut and bolt been considered before fitting it!!!!!!
 
Wish that was the tax in ireland.... €660 euro these days!

Good lucK with the new wheels! Always liked the look of the one's, less so the new models though... ahhhh change :smile:
 
well i parted ways with the clio today after one last blast in it!! sad sad moment :'(

but the beemer WOW even tho its not as quick its a great drive n looks the part too :thumbup:
