Ktec Stage 1 Remap

Will a map get rid of the flat spot because of me getting the silencer chopped out??

I know certainly when mine was mapped at TDF it got rid of alot of the flat spot. However because you have made it worse by doing the exhaust mod im not too sure if you will be able to completely map it out. You should be able to make it significantly better though.

I'm still not done yet with the remap (I'm currently on a holliday) but already on the current map (3rd) there is none or very small flat spot.
However, Paul said there is room for improvement in the mid range wich I find stunning given in mind that I like the way the car behaves now (if looking for a needle in a haystack then I could say I feel a little flat spot 4000-4500rpm)!

I have:

V6 airbox & K&N panel filter
Cams
Matched/ported inlets
Modified head
Lightweight flywheel
Y-pipe (removed pre-cat)
Decat & catback by Miltek

I believe that the inlets & the head work somehow cancelled out the potential massive flatspot caused by y-pipe & the decat (I had the car on the dyno before/after the inlets and it showed more torque in the low/mid range and the peak power was stable 7000-7500rpm which I found stunning).

I wasn't on a dyno yet because I'm still running in the new engine (I'm 300km short ).

For now I

as stated in previous threads. KTEC are fantastic supplier for performance part but are far from the best mechanics there mark up on labour is phenominal and tbh id go somewhere more local

Can drive mine and see what you think?

That would be awesome! Or even just take me for a ride along would be good mate!

I had the silencer removed today and allthough it does sound a bit better. I have really noticed the flat spot increase! :worried: and it can sometimes kangaroo in 2nd if you floor it between about 2000-3000 rpm :worried: so that along with opening up the slots on the airbox lid is a big fail! :/ think ill stop experimenting and go back to standard for a while! lol save up and do some proper mods! Ive only acomplished making my clio slower it feels! :worried: badtimes!

Haha they look the same so who's to know it's not yours  you can take it as you have to drive it to notice the difference. Ask brad he drove it the day I had it mapped! Let me know when your about and we'll sort something.

Very nice mate. Love it I never got exhaust done just inlets. Suppose I should have really lol. Keep up the good work

Without wishing to start a forum war, having been in the clio scene for a while I wouldn't have it done at ktec. TDF (cambridge way) are very good, approx 60miles from essex.

Are you planning any other mods? Exhaust etc? If so, the map should be the very last thing you do.

We have moved forward A LOT over the last year or two with mapping, no more generic maps from other (well known) suppliers. All maps are custom, carried out on our dyno and we are happy for the customers to watch and see how its done.

I am sorry but this is absolute rubbish. I don't often take the high ground but the work my guys carry out on the cars is of the highest standard. We have had cars thorugh our workshop this year from just about every other "Renault specialist" and some of the work has been downright dangerous and shocking. We have saved customers £1000s by puting work right before something major happens. Just have a look on our Blog to see some of the work we have done. We have customers winning in various race series in the UK and overseas, we have hundreds of K-Tec mapped cars running around the country, all without any issues, we even have cars in Hong Kong, Sweden and Germany running maps we have carried out in house, again with no issues.

As for the labour rate, £60+vat per hour is phenominal? Our local dealer is £96+vat per hour. First and foremost we need to cover our overheads, these include over £1300 per month on insurance, £600 per month in electricity, £1500 per month business rates, over £1000 in employers NI contributions, 10 members of staff to pay etc. All these have to be paid before we start to make a profit, which is what any business aims to do.

Sorry for the rant but if you could see just how busy we are due to the high standard of work we carry out some people may come to a different conclusion.

Oh, and our doors are always open for people to come and see what we do.

David.
