Ktec Stage 1 Remap

Is this any good? Any one have it? Worth the money or go somewhere else? I allready have the Ktec Panel Filter aswell, so would it be cheaper? Or would I just get another one? Are there better remaps out there as a first small mod?

Cheers guys

Without wishing to start a forum war, having been in the clio scene for a while I wouldn't have it done at ktec. TDF (cambridge way) are very good, approx 60miles from essex.

Are you planning any other mods? Exhaust etc? If so, the map should be the very last thing you do.

I'm not sure! I'd love an Akro Exhaust eventually and maybe a few other things but nothing major, at the moment I dont intend on spending thousands on the Clio to chase power gains. I'd just like to get a few more bhp from a few minor mods, then in future see if I want to spend the big bucks!

I've gone down the 'silencer removal' route atm with the exhaust to get a better sound for cheap and ive cut the slots out of the top of the air box lid to get some induction noise. Just wondering if a remap would give me a few more horses i feel are needed as the car is today?

This.

I'd be taking it TDF too, infact our 182 was done by Matt

You have lost power with this airbox mod. A couple of my friends have done this and they lost 1 length of a car (we have tried with their and then with my extra lid numerous of times and every time they had modified lid they were 1 length more at the back).

I'm getting my car remapped by PaulRS.

To be fair..ive got the ktec remap with an itg and akro exhaust.
Pulls extremely well and ive had no issues at all.

He was wondering if he had lost power. He wanted to try my airbox cover and see the difference. Has he defo lost power then?

They did loose power (my friends).

I had one cover extra from my old airbox so we've tried with/without my cover.

If you have one extra, try one against each other in rolling start - first with the modded cover than with the OEM one.

But one car has to have OEM one at all times in order to see the effect.

Nick i can recommend AMD Tuning in Thurrock (Lakeside). The remap is £300.....or £150 when you get the Miltek exhaust
If you want the akro then you could buy it and take it along to AMD and they'll fit it. Very local as well, only take you 45 minutes to get there.
The remap they did on mine has made a rediculous difference!......also i have the itg filter

AmD are a safe bet, they've done mine once with my cams and I was more than happy with performance/results.

Now the time has arrived for another remap and I may try ktec, they did a cracking job on the misses 182. We shall see

Very interesting! It does feel a bit more sluggish, sounds nice though! I'll have to give it a try with Mclarens lid, if he will let me , to see if i can feel the difference.

Then most likely be buying a replacement from Karl lol

As for where to go for a remap, do you think its worth doing without any major mods? As im not even sure at this point if i will be making any major changes.

On it's own it will aid driveability. But it won't really be quicker. It's obvious that a specialist qualified mapper, with experience of these engines will get the best results (common sense!). Difficult to see past TDF/RSTuning.

Is MarkFish round your way? Might be able to make a recommendation.

To the lad that went to AMD, was it a live map?

What sort of benefits to driveability are there?
low down torque, think it dropped betweeen 2,500-3,000rpm, that got smoothed out, gave pockets of power gain throughout the rev range to smooth it out, think i gain 10bhp at something like 5,500rpm.

Depends on what are your future plans.

I would get a V6 airbox, matched/ported inlets, decated exhaust and then a remap instead of paying twice for the remap.

And go exactly in that order because you can lose power only with the exhaust (but when you remap the car you'll gain more power back).

I found that Clio 197 is really restricted when it comes to induction air.

True...

Can drive mine and see what you think?
