Information needed on buying a Clio!

Hello everyone,

My first post here but I've been lurking a few days and the site seems VERY helpful compared to some of the other car forums I've been on.

Anyway, had a Mountuned Fiesta, a Focus ST and got rid of both. Been six months or so since I've had a nippy car so thought I would give the Clio a chance seeing as their prices are cheap as chips at the moment.

In all likelihood I will be selling on next year and plumping for a facelifted Focus ST but here's my problem.

I have around 11k to spend and want a well specced car, both for my enjoyment and to make it easier to shift on next year but I'm going nutty trying to find one with what I want. I obviously want Recaros and the cup pack, the sat nav thing would be a plus but the key factor is millage. It must be under 20k, preferably 15k as I do next to no miles but if I find one with the right mileage and recaros it doesn't have the cup pack. If it has the monitor and cup packs it has standard air con and no recaros.

so im wondering do well specced cars come up often, or am I just going to have to be patient for one to come up?
I know im perhaps being a touch picky but I'm thinking of when I come to sell it and I'd imagine recaros, low miles and cup packs is going to shift it quickly!

Also are there any specialist renaultsport dealers I should be keeping an eye on?

Thanks in advance for any replies, hopefully I can get in something soon!

Ally has either just traded or is trading his Storm Grey 200 which would tick all your boxes (Except for the Nav).

Al check to make sure though and see if I can find more info.

Mine may be going up for sale soon.

Welcome to the forum, if people aren't friendly, helpful and welcoming they won't last long on here.

We like people to be able to ask the "sorry for asking a stupid question" and not get a stupid or ridiculed answer. Well not till you have been on for a while and realise its just a bit of fun anyway.

There are a few cars up for sale on here and you could always but a add up in the wanted section.

Welcome!

Interesting post coming from a ford family. did you find the fiesta too slow?

welcome to the Renault family!

:welcome: to the club. Well spec'd cars do come up for sale but they aren't all that common, you find that a lot of people were either in the market for a 'nice clio' so bought the range topping RS model with Climate/C etc. OR they wanted a sporty car so bought a cup with as few options as possible. There are people inbetween but they aren't as common. Thats the reason I jumped on my car, it had EVERYTHING, also the dealer had no idea what he was selling so I got it for a steal!

If you're looking for something specific maybe drop a PM to '@steve Murr' (he's a site trader on here) as he usually deals with a lot of Clios in all specs and may be able to point you in the right direction/have one for sale.

Welcome!

Dropping the nav/RS monitor off the list should make it a fair bit easier to find but you're right in saying that <20k miles will be a challenge!

Thanks!

I should have, perhaps, been a touch more specific. My fiesta was the old shape one. Had the Mountune 185 kit on it, it was mental!
My Focus was something else though, mapped, not much on the roads could keep up with it.

thanks for everyones replies, perhaps dropping the nav is a good idea. I may also put an ad up as advised, thanks again everyone. Still hope to be in something soon!

You could look at a Silverstone edition, I have one and whilst it's just a slightly different silver, it has all the boxes tick that you are after, bar the Sat Nav, which isn't an issue at all. So came with Recaros, Black Speedline wheels, black roof, Cup chassis, RS Monitor and Full Fat climate, dash etc.

There were only 50 made, so little more rare, but I've seen a few with under 15k miles for around £11.5 -12.5k.

Cheers ..... Simon.
