Exhaust / Manifold rattle

Hey guys,
I've noticed as of late once the car has warmed up, a rattling noise (almost sounding like a loose heat shield) is apparent at roughly 2500 RPM and at 1800 RPM. I can't really identify where the noise is coming from front or rear, but it sounds like a buzzing noise and is really quite annoying! don't know if anybody else has experienced this or anything like it? Any help would be appreciated as always, thanks.

Had my manifold replaced and it needed a new mount.

I am wondering if it's the manifold to be honest, hoping its not though because from what I can gather it's not a particularly cheap fix :worried: how much did you get charged shells2074 if you don't mind me asking.

Take a look under the car. I had a rattle from a loose exhaust hanger.

I do need to get it up on the ramps ideally so I can have a better look, but the noise only seems to be apparent once the car has warmed up

I went to a Renault specialist and it was £425 total. Better than a grand at Renault! !
It might just be that it's loose though and only need it securing? Just off what I know from seeing mine.

That's not too bad I don't suppose, did you supply the manifold with that? Only I'm tempted to swap my manifold for a toyosport one if it does indeed need replacing. With the manifold being a pig to get to I'm guessing you can't tell if it is that until its been removed.

They had one. They're a breakers. The part was £200 ish. My manifold had a hole in it could just see through a gap underneath. Find a Renault specialist. There was actually one on ebay at the time so they price matched it. So yeah the culprit was found without removal.

I think your flexi may be on its way out...

When the engine is cold, get yourself underneath and trace the exhaust pipe up ... you can just see a flexi from there. If your hands are small enough you can reach up and have a feel for some fraying on it; this maybe causing the buzzing you are hearing... Check for carbon residue too (another symptom). Just be careful those swines can be quite sharp when they are frayed.

There is one to check from inside the engine bay too, just trace the manifold back and you should see it.

I had the same thing, was the flexi that bad blown. Got a decat manifold on eBay and had it fitted at a local garage in total costing £350 or so. Good excuse for a power upgrade

No, I went for a non branded one off eBay and I don't care what anyone says it's the exact same manifold without the toyo logo on it lol. I had a VERY minor knock.. Nothing to worry about but I had the lower and upper engine mounts done which completely sorted it.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can diagnose the fault based off what you have said

Strange part being, I've just done a 350 mile round trip to FCS and it was fine, however travelling to work this morning in stop start traffic you could hear it again :S
