Engine management light

Hi,

Sorry if there's an older thread I should have used, I'm just getting to grips with the site.

I have a Clio 197, everything was running fine until last week. I got the engine management light come on with the message "check emissions". I had a mate of mine plug in a diagnostics kit and it read the fault as P0010 - a camshaft position actuator circuit/open bank. Now I'm not very technical when it comes to repairs, and was just wondering if anyone had experienced this before, or knows what it is?

Any help would be muchly appreciate

It's part of the vvt , possibly oil control valve fault.

Thanks for the reply! Would that be a big job to fix, or something minor?

Depends but not normally . check wiring to valve, check valve working. valve is to left of engine just behind camshaft cover on top of engine

I would check that camshaft vvt valve, really easy to clean/replace. Try clean first.
