different gearbox issue

So usually when I break something on my 197 I find simular threads via the search function but not this one.

When driving hard (around the gear shift light rpm) my car gets stuck in gear. Now I push the clutch in but i cant physically take the car out of the gear it's in.

The obvious answer would be to drive more carefully....but that's no fun.

My release bearing on my clutch is knackered so wondered if it was something to do with that. Thought I'd ask before I change the clutch incase I need a new box at the same time. There are no crunches and the gearbox is fine all of the rest of the time.

Any ideas?

I think Gam had a similar issue and it was a knackered release bearing?

Sounds like the release bearing or it could be like mine and the actual friction plate could be broken. The latter is very rare how ever but it happens. If there's no crunches then I wouldn't say a new box is in order.

Only way to tell is to get everything out unfortunately.

I had friction plate failure and slave cylinder failure on two separate occasions. The slave failure was finally revealed by brake fluid leaking out.

The release bearing now squeals like a bitch. So I know that's shagged

Thanks for the advice guys.
