collins performance chip

hi guys seen a few cars advertised for sale and they say got a collins chip and 212bhp , ive read a few threads and you guys seem to only get about 10bhp with exhaust and custom remap and under 200bhp , so are they talking crap seen some other remaps/chips on net claiming 10/15 bhp aswell is it all crap ? , thanks

Only from what Iv read your only likely to get a max of 5bhp from a map and the cars aren't making 200bhp from standard either so sounds like bull

Your lucky if you get in the 190's with a standard car. A lot run around 185bhp.

If you want 220 you'll need exhaust, cams and a map and even then your not guaranteed to get anywhere near that. So yeah they are talking crap

Collins as in the Ford tuners?

Generally you'll get 5-10BHP peak gains from a Remap depending on how lucky you are and how strong your engine is to begin with. Some people have seen bigger gains but it's not an easy engine to extract more power from with it being so highly tuned from the factory.

you can only compare bhp figures from different cars that have been tested on the same set of rollers tbh as well mate

Also, don't be fooled by people saying its 'chipped'.

Chipping is an old skool mod that you don't do on a 197/200. Chipping involves physically replacing a chip in the ECU. Our cars get remapped which involves modifying the map already in the ECU.

I remember chipping my old punto gt (well taking it back out actually) outside an MOT test station as it wouldn't pass the emissions. Ahh they were the days!
