Clio 197 Cup - Time Attack Build Progress

having that much difference in pad wear I'd say you have a sticking rear caliper check the handbrake caliper internal mechanism adjustment and a rebuild to take the corrosion from the piston is not a very hard job but there is no point putting good track pads in until your sure it's good.

I’m getting two new rear callipers and hand brake cables soon, the whole lots getting replaced

The price of expensive mods like the ZPO always seem to get lost in a sale. If you are considering selling then you might get more money by putting an interior back in and selling the ZPO separately - but that is hassle to just keep it!

I was thinking of splitting and selling separately, but for me I don’t have the space to break a car down

Got round to getting the pro track pads on today. Ignore the discs, they’re next with a set of new callipers and some castrol race fluid 4E61DDDE-8134-47D9-994B-B34724E5D43B.jpeg

nothing new much happening with the car over the next couple months apart from driving and track days.
Been looking at a new series to enter as well as / instead of Time attack, the cooksport Renault cup, looks interesting!

Took a trip to the Ilse of Wight last weekend, for their yearly Take Over event. Apart from all the Fords there, It was a wicked weekend, forgot how good the roads are and the Clio felt right at home around them! 2340cc7f-5d62-4aa0-af41-80193b27eb77.jpg60992c98-6706-486a-84fc-7f562d0526a9.jpg

Also found a spot and managed to get it sat on three wheels, nice seeing how stiff the rear end is

Booking Cadwell for the end of June as well, which I'm very excited about as I haven't done this one yet

Been pretty quiet recently .. Not a lot has happened.

Went and supported a friend of mine, Chris at SMC racing in his rounds 3/4 of Time Attack UK at Brands Hatch, amazing experience and great to see it all from the other side of the fence and get involved with making sure the cars good for the heats and cooling etc when he comes back in. He managed P1 in class round 3 and P3 in class round 4 which was fantastic!
The car looks amazing, huge spec and very well done.

A couple weeks after that, I hit up Cadwell last week for the first time, and I've not been so impressed by a track before, Gotta head back at some point soon and get some more time there. Best lap was a 1:55 which I dont think is too bad for my first time ever being there, A LOT of room for improvement.

I've gotta change the tyres up to AR1's because I'm really not a fan of the AD08RS's anymore, and a stiffer spring rate for the YSR's all round and replace the brake fluid with some RBF660 and then go from there.
Some reason I can't attach some of the photo's over from my laptop so I've only got a couple.

Then shortly after this I was invited to go watch my friend Andy race in Britcar, see what he does, meet the team and hang out in the garage .. again a pretty cool experience and so different so Time Attack, loads more happening which meant I was staying well out the way for the boys to do what they needed to do!
The Gen4 cup racers are one hell of a piece of kit, amazing to see one in person and get a proper proper nosey around it.

I think it’s just a dash dodger, I originally wanted one to go through the dash and infront of it. But this will work as well and be safer than no cage.

Been a while since i updated .. completely forgot about this progress thread.

TLDR is, Time attack is go go go for 2024

Few things to do, rear calipers are being refurbished by MC Custom, and along with that i've got brand new OEM rear brake hose's to go from caliper - braided lines. bonnet catches and bumper quick releases

I'll try keep this updated a bit more on the path up to round one at anglsey 1705441568799.png1705441614742.png1705441578491.png:smile:

What class in Time attack are you running in? Think there is a K Swapped 197 running too. It'll be interesting to see how much time a 10k engine conversion gets you.

Just finished reading start to finish.
Glad you didn't sell the car and have continued on your journey with the Clio as it would of been a shame to sell it after all the time spent on it & before getting to run it in a time attack or race.

Best of luck. :thumb:

Cheers pal, appreciate that! I'm glad I haven't sold either yet, very excited for what the year is gonna bring!

Thank you!

Got some photos back from Max @ MS custom engineering of my rear calipers, one side was seizing on and causing me some issues / hand brake was naff. So had them sent off and rebuilt / painted, should be a million times better and are gonna look great!

Already fitted some brand new OEM brake lines from the braided section to the caliper, so next job is to refit, and rebleed the whole system with some fresh motul 660 fluid
