Aux. belt change

Just spoken to Renault to find out if the aux belt change is included on the 4+ deal, only for them to tell me that it is done at the same time as the timing belt at 5 years.

I am sure I read somewhere that it was 3 years for the aux belt?

Nope, they've changed it on the 200 to 5 years with the timing belt. I would go to BTM or someone and have it changed before the 5 years though IMO, because if it did fail Renaults warranty isnt worth the paper its written on.

It sounds like they've changed the schedule purely to save them changing it on the 4+ deal.

Not sure if I should gamble on the 5 years or get it done before then

sounds exactly like something they would do. i'd change it before then if i was you, if you take the gamble and the engine fails, i doubt they'd pay out. any excuse. as i said, their warranty isnt worth the paper its written on.

I thought the aux belt was now 6 years in line with the cam belt but it's advisable to do it every 5 years in case it goes?

Have you had yours changed?

It was the 1*2's that had a 3 year interval on the aux belt. It's always been 5/6 years on the 197/200 as far as i'm aware.
