hey all..new to 197 ownership just sayin hello

hey peeps, hope ur good..just joined so sayin howdy&pickin some brain if poss[emoji5]i recently had to downgrade from a 320bhp scooby sti to a red 197 off a lad who had put a daft k&n on it which i think is doin no good at all, maybe sapping some torque as its a but hesistant until revs are high but it is a wicked handling car&feels solid enough&looks ok.i keep hitting rev limiter due to being an impreza man it seems slow but iv noticed it will do over 75mph in 2nd gear easily which im amazad at tbhiv not kept it going in 3rd to see wot that does there but is this normal speed in 2nd gear??also its got oil around injectors&its not from the screw on top of rocker cover..theres a lot&smells a bit oily when hot!
it sometimes will not go into 3rd gear at speed!its fine tootling about town but any kind of enthusiasm it wont slot in!!!i may be sellin it soon if its gonna cost an arm&a leg to put right!costing more to maintain than a tuned to the nuts 1994 sti redtop import!heres a few pics.

any comments(bad or good)& any help will be much loved

mines running standard airbox and still kangaroos and hesitates...go figure eh..lol. but like you say wind it up and hey to be fair goes well. only use standard fuel, cant justify extra cost but runs ok by me. lots of little French niggles but they say that's character...

thanks mate thats helped...il leave my k&n on then for now..at first i was startin it up&then lockin my house&stuff just so it was warmed up[emoji5]the vpower i noticed on my turbo cars!!put normal unleaded in one day when i was on fumes&couldnt find a shell for vpower!!i plonked a 10s of texaco 95 in&it spluttered home after driving 1 mile!!ecus get to learn the fuel&will adapt if u use that 1 only, but at £1.30 a litre the reason i got this clio,it can run on normal fuel:smile:also u can hear a bigger bang going on&nicer burn with turbos
.but my impreza was mapped for 99 ron,it does help in a way but if it happens on em all il just suck it up&kangaroo..lol

cheers buddy

Hello & welcome to the club. Yeah they need revs but that's where the fun lies! Kangarooing is easily mapped out. Always use Tesco Momentum 99 myself plus a drop of Redex since 4/5 months ago. Redex seems to have made a difference but could be placebo effect! Works for me through. Whatever, enjoy the car! They really are awesome (overused word these days) if you dial in to the naturally aspirated rev it & enjoy it point of view!
