I love the difference between the sort of mechanical shrill you get in the Carrera GT vs the clattering deep bass from the GT40.

Long live the internal combustion engine!

Yeah the LFA is a real screamer. Frigging love those things. Although when I was watching it on Top Gear the other day I couldn't help but think that if I could get one in proper-hand-drive I'd have the SRT Viper just for sh*ts and giggles

As Rob says the shrill of the Ferrari is awesome. Sounds like an F1 car which is what I want in a car.

I've have never been a fan of American muscle V8's though, to me they sound like a tractor which is just wrong. Then I remember that Ferruccio Lamborghini made tractors and put his tractor engine nonsense into a car and it grew into the epic sounding Countach V12. The opening credits of Cannonball Run created a love for that sound thats still with me, and therein lies my dilemma. Should I like muscle cars?

Lol at the Viper. Is that the sh*ts you get when you want to go round the corner but the Viper doesn't.

To answer your question Angel: Yes, yes you should. I love muscle cars in the same way I love a Lambo or a Ferrari. They're all driven by a passion and an enthusiasm.

For Lambo its they've become this almost "bad boy" car manufacturer, known the world over for their style regardless of the cars functional purpose, their enthusiasm comes from being this obscure but instantly recognisable symbol.

Ferrari have become this super technical race bred manufacturer known the world over for their technical abilities and their racing heritage, their enthusiasm comes from being the best at almost everything they do.

Muscle cars are "affordable" cars that don't give a toss about conforming, or keeping up with the Jones' (or the Italians, or Japanese for that matter). Their enthusiasm comes from offering the most enjoyment/thrill/drama from a car at the most cost effective package.

The thing they all have in common is a passion for cars. And letting their respective demographic enjoy them for what they are.

LOL yes. I just think it would be the most fun. Lets face it, if you've got 300k to spend on any of those cars, you can also afford something comfortable and something for the track as well, which means that my 'super car' may as well just be a f*cking good laugh. I think a noisy V10 Viper would do that job well. Its the same reason I'd also consider an SLS at that sort of price bracket, sure its crap at going round corners compared to a 458 or an MP4-12C, but it sounds epic and it'll make small children laugh and cry at the same time just from the noise it makes

Although I'd find it very hard not to buy the LFA...

The ACR is hardly your run of the mill Viper though...

Its upgrades were more drastic than the original, including street-legal racing tires, two-piece brake rotors, adjustable suspension, and significant aerodynamic revision. No engine modifications were made, so power and torque remain at 600 hp (450 kW) and 560 lbft (760 Nm) as in the standard SRT-10. The ACR is street-legal, and is similar to the MOPAR Viper that Dodge displayed at various auto shows. Weight was also decreased by 40 lb (18 kg) by using the "Hardcore Package", without AC, radio, speakers, amplifier, trunk carpet, hood pad or tire-inflator. Its aerodynamic upgrades produce about 1200 lbf (4.4 kN) of down-force at 150 mph (240 km/h), or roughly 10 times the downforce the standard Viper SRT-10 can produce at the same speed

just to upset a few!!!!

just think of those motors that sound THE best....how many were turbo charged  not many at all!!!!

and the diffference in sound to a large capacity yank v8 to a ferrari flatplane crank v8 :cloud9:

v10 sounds gloriuos but a proper v12 is mechanical music

Last time I was at Goodwood I heard a D-Type rocket out of the pits. That straight six sounds like an animal!

Best clip I can find:
