Windscreen washer jets only works when rear wiper is turned on?

So bit of a strange one. When I try to use the front windscreen jets all that happens is the wipers go for a bit, there's no sound from the pump and nothing comes out of the jets. however the rear one works fine as it should.

But when I turn on the rear wiper the front jets now seem to work fine. I've replaced the pump even though that didn't seem to be the issue and I'm convinced the stalk isn't the issue because it always works when the rear wiper is turned on.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I’d possibly look at the stalk for that, sounds like a wire is contacting only when the rear wiper is switched on. Was there not some guide about stripping them down somewhere? I know there’s one for the lights stalk. Would cost nothing to open it up and see.
