Why isn't my suspension where it should be ?

This may be the stupidest question asked about suspension but, why isn't it where it should be ? on the front all is normal but as I was putting on mud flaps today I realised the rear springs are in a different place much lower down on what my very limited knowledge tells me is the chassis. is this because its the CUP springs ? I'm very confused about it all. I've added some pics to explain myself. one is where I thought the spring would be and the other is where it actually is

Its rear axle beam with indepentant spring and dampers, renault have been using this set up for years, from standard twingo 1.2s to cup pack megane 265s

On the rears the spring and shockers are separate, dont worry about it they're all the same.

The only kit that offers a proper 'coilover' set-up is the AST kit. The Nitrons may be the same once they're available.

Some cars don't run any springs at all on the rear.

You don't know if you don't ask, but it did make me chuckle!!!
