Weight of Clio/Mass In Service

Hey all,

Has anyone actually had their Clio on a Weighbridge and weighed it? I looked at my V5 today, it has the Mass In Service weight as 1335kg. Thats 75kg for a driver and 90% full fuel tank. Just thought it was interesting and worth investigating, Id like to get mine down to under 1300kg without stripping it out. Saying that, people going to the extreme and stripping it all out are probably getting the car down to 1200-1220kg.

Mine was 1245kg with half a tank of fuel. I just took my rear seats and parcel shelf out which saved 20kg, which makes my car 1300kg with me in it and half a tank. I also have OZ Wheels which are 8.5kg each so bit of a weight saving there. I don’t think even stripping them saves that much weight. Usually a roll cage cancels out the weight saving on stripped cars

Didnt realise they were that heavy. Quite surprised. Thought it would be closer to 1200

I had 1240kg with 50% fuel, without me.

Model is 197 / 2008

Shaved of some weight along the way by using akrapovic evolution, oz ultras, lightened flywheel, smaller battery (stock 12kg vs 6kg aftermarket).

There is a lot of ways of stripping weight but the big things are rear seats, belts, lightweight front seats and battery. Rolling weight is important and is almost more beneficial so lighter wheels would probably yield the most feeling.

I just thought it was interesting about the mass in service. Im still trying to find a place to weigh mine locally.
