tyres on 17 in oz allegerita

hi all,im getting some new wheels for the 200 but im not sure what tyres to get, standard tyres will go on the oz 8 in rims im told but could also get 225's but im wondering about the height on the sidewall,i dont want it to get any higher..also 235 40's would go on and keep the sidewall down but would 235's be too much for the steering..?

any help suggestions appreciated.

think the 235's may be a bit of an overkill..not sure as i've not heard of anyone who's ever done it...

Thought as much, its a shame they dont do 225 40's..
The other thing is with tyres is some makes seem to have lower/higher sidewalls than others even though they should be the same, the 225's 45's might have a van sized sidewall..!.

if you don't want to get any higher, get some 215's. personally, i find 225's a better fit for an eight inch wide wheel. less stretch.

I would like to know the weights of the tyres I might fit..although the 235 40 17 sounds a bit much it actually has a smaller diameter slightly. I would rather go smaller than bigger..knowing the weight would be good between 235 40 17 and 225 45 17 and 215 45 17..

Not sure if you can make out, but 225/45/17 with h&r springs.

i think 225 is bang on for these. 215 looks a little too low profile for my liking... At least it is after seeing the 225s

edit, you can actually see the difference this was before I had the matching tyres Fitted to the rear. 225 on the front, 215 on the back

personally I think 225's look like balloons. 215 look the best, even on 8J's.

yep..its a tough one..the 225's do kinda look like they fit the arch and dont look out of place on the car..its just im used to seeing so many pimped up cars with tyres that look like rubber bands,i did see that on one of the forums there was someone who had run 235/40's but when they wore out he went back to 215's because he preferred the snappier feel of the 215's.
it would be good to see a pic of some 235 40's on 17* 8's or a good close up pic of a 215 45 on an 8 in rim.
ive been looking at tyres and ive got the hots for some fed 585 rsr's

Got them on in the end...i went with 235 40's as they are slightly smaller diameter, lighter and more tread ( for some reason the 225 45 in the 595rsr's are shallower tread),ive only drove it 25 miles on country roads back from the tyre place but it feel fine,if not a little bumpier,i guessed at 35 psi but i think i need to start more like 30.
