"Top up oil"

Hi folks,

Started the 197 up this morning and got that message. Iv checked the stick and the oil level is on the minimum marker.

how much oil will I need to top her up? Am I right in thinking 5w40 is the right grade?

yes 5w40, and 'normally' its about 1 litre from min to max.

Don't buy anything cheap. Get the elf stuff as recommended by Renault

don't rely on the dash! check the dipstick at least fortnightly, if not more often

Looking at the dipstick the oil is just above the minimum and iv ordered elf. I do 400 miles a week in the 197, will that make much of a difference in how much I'll go through?

Not really buddy, these cars have pretty good engines. They're not like the K20 Honda lumps that use oil.

It's just good practice to keep an eye on it anyway

Well, the civic K20 isn't impressive as standard, the S2000 is the good engine to start with, 240Hp iirc?

Theres plenty of aftermarket parts to bolt on the Jap engine, but all the mods are a pretty penny too.. Depends what your after, shame they don't handle as well as the Rs range 8)
