Morning,

Joined the forum yesterday as I want to get my 197 back to looking and running its best. Unfortunately I have limited knowledge which is why I require some help!

The timing belt and water pump are due for a change, so I need to ideally find a Renault specialist in Nottingham that'll be able to do a good job for me without me having to re-mortgage my house! Any recommendations?

I spoke to the local Renault dealer and they gave a quote of £1075 which I thinks a bit of a joke!

Also, any recommendations on decent rear brake discs as there due soon as well.

Thanks in advance.

:welcome: to the site

Engine Dynamics is a trader on here, there's also BTM that are a specialist.

Engine Dynamics actually have offers on for servicing at the moment

It cost me £975 for the belt, pump, tensioner ect, and the dephaser to be changed. It had all been done a few hundred miles before I got the car but them brain donors fitted the dephaser 180° out.

Welcome to the forum!

Thats a crazy quote for the belts! The dealer I work for we have a fixed price of £329 plus the cost of water pump for the same work (RenaultSport specialist and Renault dealer in Northern Ireland)

As for brakes, they are quite expensive (they contain a bearing and ABS ring). Stick with OEM or I know a few members have MTECH discs and they seem to perform well and a decent price .

Welcome along

As Eddie says, MTEC discs are a good choice for the rears - very reasonably priced and good quality. I have their fronts on my car and I'm very happy with them so far.

Brill, thanks for the advice.

Do engine dynamics just sell the parts of does that price also include the labour for the work?

I'll make some queries into the options suggested.

I also need to work on the bodywork. I need to touch up some damaged paintwork and respray parts as they're fading. Any suggestions for garages to repair paintwork and any decent spray paint for plastics?

Again, local ish to Nottingham if possible.

That price includes all the labour and everything.

Hence why people have said that Renaults price is WAY too expensive.

Midlands Car Care

We badly need an RS Specialist directory on this forum. Garages by location, rough prices, works done etc.

try the Mtec brake disc..well cheaper and as others have said-they are great...are u looking to have the exterior or interior plastics resprayed??

This is a brilliant idea. Such a simple one too, shame it hasn't been thought up before!

Why would it conflict with traders? I'm sure everyone wants to be in the mix, it's only a directory.

Just stops the same question being asked 10 times a week.

I get bored of answering seeing it!

looking at exterior.. interior still in pretty decent condition.

I've heard that Diamond motors has a good reputation.. I think there website quotes about £630 ish for the timing belt plus waterpump.

Try Bolsover car care. It's under an hours drive from notts. Just had my belts done there today for £400, which is half what I paid at a renault dealership for a standard clio a year ago.
