The Track Shed!!!!

Cut and pasted from another site so CBA editing if some info is a bit out!! Mods feel free to move if this is the wrong section.

As some of you know I am getting rid of the 197 that was meant to be my track toy, a crippling finance payment, ****e fuel economy and other issues have meant it has to go.

Got a couple of good petrol head mates who fancied a track toy so we set about looking. We knew we wanted a ph1 172 as its a quick little car that, with some minor tweaks, can be quite capable on track.

After some searching we discovered this sorry looking example....

Looking past the battle scars it seemed ideal for what we wanted. Damag is only cosmetic and for track use all we really need is a bumper. Bonnet will be pinned (as its the rare ally one) and we have plans for the passenger side light.

All this for the tidy sum of £520!!!

Car arrives tomorrow and striping starts Thursday.

Me old mate and car partner has been busy today too!!

Whipped the rest of the dash out, and all of the sound deadning, then the heater matrix and clutter out.

Just need a U bend to blank off the heater rad thing then we're set for re-assemblage. Plenty of wiring to sort through and lighten!!

Well, the tinkering has been done. Lots more we need but we will pick these up as we see them (if the price is right).

Picked up a set of "wets" with some good Goodrich tyres on for less than a ton, just in case its too wet for the 888s. Dunno what they are, supposed German Touring Car rims from years ago but I'm not sure I believe that. They look OK and they do the job.

Think I want to spray the mis matched lights (one is a new one) black but they'll do for now!

Well the first track day as a great success, she ran perfectly all day - didnt miss a beat once!!

Have got a vid on the way of my first session and my first ever drive of the car... had a storming last session but the ****ing camera has messed the recording up, wont play as an AVI so if any of you are computer whizzes and can fix it that would be great!!!

there was some big boys toys there today, caterhams, hayabusa powered kit cars, and some sort of Chevron monster - but we held our own against the cars more in our league.

Here are some of the pics of the day:
