I had this issue with an MOT at the start of the year. The garage I used for the MOT was a local garage that is very good, but not a Renault specialist, and they said they could only get the hub parts with the ball joint in it from Renault, and not a new separate ball joint. I had one side done which was expensive. Then later in the year I got the other side ball joints done by AW Motorworks who are Renault specialists. They had no problem replacing all the ball joints on one side using the old hubs but new ball joints. They did replace the suspension arm as well.

I would buy the ball joints from Supreme if I were doing the job myself, or take it to a garage that knows what it is doing.

I dont know where your based or the amount of tools and experence you have the job involves heating and press tools hitting it with a hammer on the pavement is not the best the ball joints dont go in at exactly 90 Degrees to the surface you can rest the hub on. Some specailest Renault people do the job for a fixed cost (£130 each out of date price) which can have benifits as they maybe able to tell you if something else is not quite right it is also a job that when being done other things like track rod ends/ drop links, front shocks can be done at the same time with very little extra cost for labor even the top mounts that on the larger older types can split or change lower arm bushings. Worst case on the hub is if you press the ball joint in and its not straight you open up the hole and its not a tight fit or crack the casting around it. Become a member to can look at the how to section and gain more insight to matanence jobs the cars need. Dont look for ball joints based on price some lower hub ball joints have boots which which the genuine ones dont have and corosion and dirt the main reason they fail.
