Steering wheel wobble

Hi, I have recently purchased a clio 200 from a guy on this forum. On the drive home I noticed that at between around 65 to 70mph the steering wheel wobbles left and right. Over 70 and it's pretty much ok .
The car has receipts for new ball joints, disks, pads etc. I have swapped front 2 wheels to back to front to resolve issue of a possible buckled wheel and still no joy. The guy initially said as the car had been sat a number of weeks then it could he due to that. I wouldnt of thought it could of been that in all fairness. Iv not come across this issue before so just wondered if anyone had any ideas I could try to resolve the issue. .

Sounds like it should be a pretty simple balancing of the wheels to be honest.

Get it to a tyre place, ask them to remove the old wheel weights so they are balancing the front wheels from scratch, and see if that sorts it.

Incorrect balancing does tend to raise its head between a certain range of speeds.

He only needs to have nudged a kerb though and it could have affected the balancing.
My CRV was a right bone shaker like you say just before 70mph.
I had the wheels balanced and it was like night and day.

In fairness I had the tracking done too, but that just corrected the pulling to one side.

I would expect a buckled wheel to manifest itself at all speeds - just the faster you go the more vibrations you get.

Unusual that the front to back swap didn't sort it.
But if all wheels are out of balance then that would explain it.

I’d get the wheels checked first. Then I’d check the anti-rotation links for play, they’ll probably seem fine when fitted but once removed any play should be more obvious. Or just replace them for the cost and simplicity of changing them. After that maybe look at track rods and then if it’s still not fixed you’re probably going to have to start going through all the suspension joints.

Cheers for the advice chaps. There are receipts from rentune for track rods, ball joints so I'm hoping it's just a case of balancing the wheels.

Not long got the wheels back from being powder coated and balanced up. They are on the car and I'll take it out tomorrow to see if it's improved.
