Please help!!!!!
I turned my car on yesterday morning and it beeped and displayed a message saying 'steering fault' and the ESP light was on too and would not turn off. I lost all the power in my power steering.
RAC come out and stated that there were codes from the diagnostics all pointing towards the ECU.
Spoke to a mechanic who also completed diagnostics and said it only come up with one fault again being ECU around the steering column. He stated that when he looked up the steering column, it was very oily and did not know if this was right and was going to get a second opinion.
He stated that i may need a new top part for the steering column which includes an ECU for the steering column too and that he can only get in from Renault.
Battery checked and disconnected but all is fine around this area.
This is looking like over £1000 worth of work but not guaranteed to fix the problem.
I have an 08 plate Clio 197 and it's only done 39,000 miles so i should not have these problems.
