Standard HU to Sub

How do I go about wiring my sub to a standard H/U?

I know I need the Autoleads connector thing so I can wire it up to the rear speakers, but what about the remote wire for the amp? What do I do with it? Ciggy lighter? How do I even access it and which wire do I put it on to?

I know it would be better if I got an aftermarket one etc etc but I want to wire it up to the standard, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, you need a speaker wire to rca adaptor. It is best to tap into the front speakers, even though the rear are the easiest!- this wil give you a better output from your sub as the bass will match the front.
To wire the remote lead from the standard HU to the amp, you may need the use of a multi-meter. There are generally two power leads into the HU, one which is a permanent link to the battery, and the other is from the igniton. You need to use the ignition one as then the amplifier will only turn on when you turn your ignition on.
To find out which is the ignition lead, you just need to link up your multi-meter to each power lead and then turn the igntion on/off/on/off and then this should show on the meter. (12v/0v/12v/0v)
Just connect the remote lead in with the igntion lead to the HU and then obviously connect up your power and ground leads!

Hope this will help a little bit.

OMG that was fab mate, really appreciate your help. I asked else on the Clio Sport forum too and he's an audio specialist and said the exact same thing as you regarding the two wires on the back of the headunit. He's told me which two it could possibly be and has said just shove the wire into each one and see if the amp comes on when I put the ignition on.

Is that dangerous? I just want it to workkk.

Yeah that will work, just wire it all up and fiddle around with it. Its quite a low current going to the amp, so shouldn't cause any problems!
The standard system doesnt sound too bad actually once you have fitted the sub. As you have the extra bass coming in, you can adjust the HU settings so you can make it go louder without the speakers distorting! :w00t:
I added some speakers into the rear of mine aswell, gives it a little extra!
The only problem i have experienced with adding a speaker wire to RCA is that i received quite a bit of interferance!- however- this wasnt noticable with a sub, just when i tried amplifing the rear speakers!
