Shorter final drive.

Can anyone tell me of any shorter final drives for the Clio 200 gripper make one but it wasmade for rally cars so takes top speed to 108mph.

Ideally want top speed 130@7600 ish.

If you have a mooch through my build thread I've got mine documented on there. It's a 197 gearbox ratios with a 4.73 shorter final drive with the gripper diff.
Tops it at 137 at 7750RPM
There's graphs in the build thread too comparing it against the Clio 200 gearbox with standard FD it replaced.
If you do go shorter the 197 ratios are slightly better. Need anymore information let me know.

Yeah that's the one, 1.6 Scenic with a TL4 021. FD is 4.733, & spot on compromise tbh - although probably wouldn't want it if I commuted!

@Ecoheatmatt That's the same FD I've got in my 197 box that we've been talking about, I know I've spoken to TBrich about it at length in the past. Not an expensive upgrade, you can find the scenic boxes at a reasonable price.

Hopefully be able to try Vmax in the Clio next year with that Box at Spa if the trip comes off!

Nice, keep wanting to do Spa myself but then keep not having anything working all summer long :worried: But I think you'd need somewhere like Spa to try a vmax for sure, I don't think any of the UK tracks are long enough unless running upwards of I guess at least 260?

I did all but vmax it in "Germany", pretty much the last time I used it! :tearsofjoy:

For £100-£150 for a TL4 021 well worth doing if you track it, and don't mind 70@4kish for road duties.

Yeah the track days I do I try to keep it on the smaller tighter tracks without the big long straights. Cadwell, Oulton, Anglesey are the most common for me but like a nice trip to Snetterton.
Either the back Williams straight at Snetterton or the back Section of Anglesey are the quickest for me. Just around 110mph with the standard diff and rations. Looking forward to trying to see what I can get to on the back section now with the gripper and FD should be able to keep it pretty much flat from The Banking all the way up to Rocket, just lifting a little for Church to settle the weight on the front wheels. Will be my first trip to Spa if it comes off. Missed the last two years with work sadly too!

Picking this thread up rather than starting a new one, is there a speedo gear swap or electronic correction that can be used to correct the speedo with a 4.7?

There is no need. Speed reading is taken from the wheels not the gearbox. Unless I've misunderstood your post.

No worries. Have you sorted a FD for yours? I'll probably be stripping my gearbox down this summer and removing my shorter FD.

I haven’t mate, let me know if and when yours becomes available. Dare I ask about the whole box or is it a case of if you have to ask you can’t afford it? :tearsofjoy:

The whole box would be with a gripper diff and shorter FD so perfect for the Clio. Undecided if I'm selling the whole box yet though or going to reuse the gearbox with a different FD and just sell the FD on.

Never posted before. can you please help as im wanting to do the Scenic final drive but cant seem to find a TL4 021 gearbox. its not the same as a TL4 015 is it? also i have a late 024 gearbox. will that still any good? i know its only 5th and 6th that are longer but is the 003 better?
