Rentune Question and Specialist Recommendations

Hi all,

I want to get my 197 tuned/mapped/remapped (I'm not sure which) to try to smooth out the 2500rpm flat-spot. I went in search of Rentune because I think they're quite local to me being in Hinckley, but I've not been able to find much of a presence for them online and when I went in search of their place physically I couldn't find it. Have they gone out of business or stopped trading or something?

Also, does anyone know of a good specialist place I could use for an MOT. Car is semi-track prepped and I don't want to take it to some place where they are gonna flip their shit over no back seats for example. I'm around the Derby area so any recommendations in the midlands would be gratefully accepted although I'm not adverse to travelling further.

I sent them an email a few days back, haven't heard anything yet and couldn't find much of an online presence either.

If you're looking for a generic map to get rid of the flatspot, a rs tuner is worth looking at. If not, EFI tuning would be your best bet.

They’ve kinda gone abit reclusive of late focusing on their own work rather than open up the workshop it seems...
They are decent garages elsewhere but depends on travel

As far as I’m aware Rentune don’t do maps anyway. You’ve got RS Tuning, EFI, Engine Dynamics or KTEC if you want it done properly. Just pick your nearest.

I've got a Fastchip RSTuner and it's brilliant. You get a full software solution, it's relatively easy to remap, Henk (I assume the owner) will ask for some data logs before sending your map to you and it's relatively cheap. Mine transformed my car and although the flatspot is still present, it's nowhere near as bad but there is a noticable increase in overall drive-ability and performance. Not only the options you have to remap but you get a lot of diagnostics data that you are able to read through the software too. So you can view live data, read EML codes, reset EML etc.

Have a gander there mate. Once spot of advice - always follow the instructions to the T. If it says "use a 10amp battery charger", don't think a 6amp "will do", the instructions/guides are there for a reason and that reason is to make sure that you don't end up screwing your ECU and having to fork out £xxxx's to get it replaced.
