Renaultsport Clio 197 F1 Team 164/500

Today I made the journey down to Kent (from the Midlands) to go and collect the 197. The 190 mile journey back was epic and it is such a great car to drive.

After only 10 minutes of owning it I was getting comments from people walking past saying how good it looked and complimenting it. I was surprised by the reaction it got!

So after sitting down and going through all the invoices and paperwork, this is how the car currently stands.

K-Tec Racing tuned ECU
Goodridge braided brake line (front and rear)
Brembo Megane R26 drilled front discs
H+R 30mm springs
Powerflex engine mount inserts (all 3)
ITG panel filter
Alpine Type G speaker system
Exhaust manifold flex is replaced and manifold fully heat wrapped
Full manifold back Oreca race exhaust (stainless steel) with silenced decat

And... the compulsory photos to accompany it.

Needed to refuel the tummy before the journey back.

Not looking to change too much, apart from the fog lights. I was looking to remove the flag on the grill, but it has actually really grown on me in a very short space of time.

Thanks for viewing

That's is a really nice Clio mate, absolutely love it. As said before, the French flag is a keeper for sure. I think a set of projectors would finish it off nicely along with a set of spacers. There aren't many people with an Oreca exhaust on here, what do you think of it?

Thank you for all the comments, I am really pleased with it. Lovely car to drive and almost spotless inside and out. I haven't driven my 182 since having this one...

The french flag is turning out to be a bit like Marmite. Love it or hate it. More love than hate though so far.
The Oreca exhaust has a lovely sound to it. I was surprised it was only a single exit exhaust. After being in the back for some of the test drive, I feel sorry for anyone I might give a lift to, you can't hear anything else. It is very loud.
Has the flag been done with electricians tape?
I believe so. When looking at it when I first had it, that is what I thought.

I will get some more photos put up today, some of the interior as that has been changed slightly as well.

Thanks again for the views and comments. Loving 197 ownership so far!

Just following on from talking about the interior, here are a few photos.

The steering wheel is much better quality when compared to the 182. It is thicker and has far more comfort to it. Feels like there is some padding to it and is a much needed improvement to the 182 which feels 'sticky' and peels.

I also love the carbon fibre. I really think it improves the overall look and continues outside the car on the doors.

A couple of shots showing its number. The plaque isn't as badly scratched as the photos make it look.

And one last photo that I took yesterday.

Very nice brave woman buying a black car enjoy

Haha! Thanks. I have however edited the post for you! [emoji6]

Black cars are a nightmare to keep clean, but they do look good when freshly washed. I did consider going for a different colour as my 182 is black, but the lure of having another black car was just too strong!

Loving 197 ownership so far.

Looks nice man, i wouldnt mind some of them stickers on the seat supports either, must have been custom made

The Oreca exhaust is proper loud. Essentially like a race car. Rather you than me for day to day driving lol.

Will sound the nuts on track.

Very nice! I knew I recognised the car too, thanks to N0ddie for the link! I knew of the car when Alan owned it and I believe it was him I bought the projectors off for my own car!
