Removing interior rear view mirror

Hi all, Could anyone please advice on how to remove the interior mirror without damaging the screen.

it just pushed up and unhooks from a connector glued to the screen

Tried to remove mine and cracked the cocking windscreen

I was prying it gently and trying to get my finger into the gap to try and pull it out. I then got out to look on the outside of the windscreen and see if I could see anything then noticed a big crack and a chip. Whether the chip was already there and me pulling on the mirror caused it to crack I don't know. Would seem strange for it to chip though.
