Re-attaching rear view mirror.

I know this is for my Megane R26 but I figured you guys would be the best to help me here.

The entire rear view mirror assembly fell off yesterday when I was cleaning the glass. No biggy I thought, so applied silicone sealant (aquarium grade) and reattached the whole unit - no joy.

Second attempt, thoroughly degreased both surfaces (the metal plate that sticks to the window and the black frosting on the glass) and used Araldite epoxy resin. Left this to set overnight, but this also pulled clean off.

Also tried no more nails permanent sticky pads, but the same result.....

What do you guys suggest as nothing seems to stick to the black frosting on the glass? (even though it's been thoroughly degreased and dried).

Cheers. I went to AutoGlass in the end, £13 and they've stuck the metal base plate on. Going back on Boxing Day for them to (hopefully) attach the whole unit.

P.S No need for moving the topic. It's still an RS interior and the 'Other RS' section on this site gets little to no response........:001_rolleyes:
