Problems - airbag light and automatic locking

Has anyone got an ideas?? I've 3 problems. I'm currently working on getting a LY200 back in order. I bought her as a damaged repairable, in pretty good shape mechanically just needs some TLC.

1. Airbag Light
When I bought the car the airbag light worked when it should. I had Recaro's in the car when I bought it but I've taken them out for standard seats as I prefer those to the Recaro's. I expected the airbag light to come on and stay on as I'd swopped seats but it didn't - since swopping the seats it hasn't worked at all even when turning on the ignition?? What did happen when I swopped the seats was the ASR light came on but after leaving the car for 20 minutes this then went off. I know the airbag light worked before but why not now?? Any ideas anyone??

2. Automatic door locking and door locking light
Another problem I have is when you start the car and drive off the doors don't automatically lock. AS you drive off you can hear the doors trying to lock but they don't and when turn the ignition off and open the door you can hear them trying to work again?? Also the door locking light doesn't come on when you lock the car but the car is locked. All the lights flash as they should. Any ideas anyone??

3. Steering lock
Just get a message saying steering lock not working?? Any ideas anyone??

I've had the garage to a Renault Specialist in Doncaster (not a main dealer) and they've found no faults with the ECU, they had to reset a few things but they can't see anything about the airbag or the other problems etc.

I've been told that the airbag has a seperate ECU and I wonder if the 3 problems are all linked to this? When the airbag goes off I'm told the doors automatically lock.

There's a brown block connector hanging down behind the steering wheel but we can't find anything to connect it into??

I'd welcome any ideas or thoughts as to what may be the problems.

It's the only I've left to fix now. She's in for a re-spray next week and I'd love to have these last 3 problems sorted by then.

I think the recaro and normal seats have a different ammount of airbags so the airbag ECU will need programimg to suit.

The rest i'm not sure about as i have one of those uncomplicated cup things.

Could the locking be as simple as a faulty door/bonnet/boot switch?

Thinking aloud ... had a 197 with normal seats, swopped them with 200 standard seats - airbag light stays on. Renault guys reset it. Replace Recaros with standard seats it then needs to be re-programmed?? Is that right??

if the airbags have gone off then a new airbag ecu is required and these will need programming to what you have air bag wise...

have you checked ALL the fuses?

The airbags had gone off, the airbags had been replaced and the airbag light worked when I got the car so presuming a new one had been fitted. It's only when I removed the recaros and put in a standard 200 seats that the problems started. I'm thinking that maybe someones had a fiddle to cut corners and save money and not replaced the airbag ECU but found another way of making it work. Is that possible?? I'm guessing that the garage I used checked the fuses
