Precat y pipe or smash it out :P

I am really wanting to get a y pipe to remove the precat, because I currently have a decat and centre box removed on my standard exhaust and it sounds quality.
I've just reaslised that whilst my centre box was being removed it would be soo easy just to s,ash the honeycomb (mesh in cat) out of the standard mani!
I know it's crude but your still cutting one up when fitting a y pipe
Just wondered if anyone has done this
And also if anyone has removed both cats from a standard exhaust

If you do remove the innards of the cat, don't just throw it away, take it to a scrap metal merchants, thats the expensive part when weighing in. :thumbup:

Think it will sound crazy and so poppy! As it is already!
Also hoping for some flames
As she is mapped but will get it changed for more air flow, as I noticed a flat when I got the silencer out last week!

just be aware that the flat spot will be even more massive and despite what people say it cant be mapped out.

removing that and having a de-cat....emissions fail warning light should/would be on....might cause running issues?

what about mot time? (put the main cat back on?)

When mine was rich as had a map issue it spat tiny flames lol. now i get small like rings of smoke when going at it hard

Ok
So gave it a go trying to "smash" the precat out on Saturday
I find lovely Renault have Installed a lovely metal honeycomb construction
Rather than a nice ceramic like normal! Soo smashing was a no lol
After using a hole cuter I finally created a nice 20/30 mm hole all the way through!
Unfortuently it hasn't made any difference only decreasing the flat spot at 2.5k which I got from removing the silencer! So abit better lol

Will be going to powerflow to get a custom y pipe shortly hopefully
Followed by a milltek
