hi folks

changed my front speakers for pioneer custom fit ones and realised the originals are Blaupunkt, which I understand to be a decent brand. IIRC Volkswagen always use them as OE. I was surprised as they don't sound all that good. Changing the tweeters made a noticable difference to the sound, even if they don't fit correctly.

What do you mean by they don't fit correctly? You have to be a bit heavy handed to get the tweeters in properly!

they stick up a few mm! theres a plastic bit underneath them that's stopping them going right down and i dont want to cut it off incase they end up rattling about...unless someone can assure me that they won't lol!

I agree. The standard head unit is much more restrictive than the speakers. It's something like 15w per channel compared to the 50w per channel most after market head units are.
