Order tyres online

Other than camskill and black circles, where else is good for tyres online? I want to replace my fronts soon with conti 3's as standard but can't seem to get them from those sites or in the right speed rating.

OiNK there's also www.mytyres.co.uk though I've not used them personally. Continental have stopped making the sport contact 3 so they're going to get harder and harder to get. I can understand wanting to keep the same tyres all round but there are many many better tyres than the frankly average Contis.

Tyretraders are the one I always seem to end up using, they often have offers on for a bit off.

Black circles always seems to be the cheapest for me. I always go for fully fitted too.
Go for the Goodyear eagle f1's from black circle they are £106 per corner in 225/45/17 which I think look much better than the 215's and are cheaper with no downside.

So what do you believe are much much better paddy? I don't want or need a track tyre or anything insane, I need a good grippy road tyre in the wet and dry. I assume the conti 5 is the 3's replacement?

I'm running Bridgestone Potenza RE070s at the moment, they are basically a dry weather tyre /occasional track day tyre but when the winter roles around again I'll be switching to the Potenza RE050A. Its a fantastic everyday tyre and can cope with pretty much every type of weather.

To be honest, I don't see the need for a dry weather tyre in N. Ireland though, in reality it is wet just as much as it is dry here. Maybe will look at the 50A.

Anyone running the 5's yet?

50A's are not a winter tyre, the A means its the soft compound.

The 50's are the normal compound.

That I know. But they are a lot more suited to winter than the 070 I'm currently running and they're great when its wet. I've had both (050A and 050) and would recommend the 050A over the 050, I got 12,000 miles from the front pair on a Focus ST. The 050A even coped admirably with snow when they had to.

Just ordered 2 from mytyres last week. There was a 3% discount running. I was in the same boat regarding speed ratings and only wanting Conti 3's.

Topcashback also gives you 3%

Nice 6% saving...all adds up.

I've had them on for about six weeks now mate, infinitely better than the Autogrip ditchfinders I had on when I bought it.

I've not done any track stuff with them (waiting till the weather gets better!), mainly national speed limit A and B roads and I think they're excellent. Now, it may be that I'm not trying hard enough, but understeer and oversteer seem non-existent. The car seems very neutral with them on. It's also worth adding that the traction control rarely cuts in with them on.

They are also very good in the wet, they deal with standing water very well. They were even okay in the snow!

I'm happy to be corrected - I've only had the car about ten weeks so I've probably only scratched the surface on how much speed you can carry through a corner with a 197, but that's my take so far. Put it this way: I'd buy them again.

Thanks for the info mate, I think I will be going for the 5's when my fronts are due, seems the natural progression from the 3's.
