Hi all,
I have a bizarre issue where the windows on my 197 only open/close a bit at a time even if I hold the button. I've had this before once or twice and can reset it by closing the windows and holding the button for 10(?) seconds. This time, however, the issue is intermittent and resetting the one-touch system doesn't work.
This started happening after I upgraded my aftermarket speakers to some even better ones. The magnets on them are (about) the same size as the old ones, which have never given me any issues with the windows. There is no clearance issues and the speakers are almost identical, dimensions-wise, so I know it's not pushing against the window mechanism or anything.
There is a post on this forum where the OP mentions this exact issue and how he found that it was the magnets on the speakers (Original Post) but after doing some research and the fact that the magnets are about the same size, I'm not 100% convinced that the window motor would be affected by the magnetic fields of the speakers. It also happens more on the passenger side than the driver's. It commonly happens on the passenger side and on the driver's side every now and again.
I have some speaker adapters arriving to install again on the old speakers after I scavenged them for the new speakers and when they do arrive, I'll solder them onto the old ones and install them again, to see if it's better, but even if that does fix the problem, I'd ideally like to use the better speakers.
I appreciate the timing of the issue suggests the speakers are at fault, but in my experience, things break all the time at the wrong times
Anyone had similar problems?
Any input appreciated
