Noise when Shifting,

Hi everyone, my 197 recently has started making the noise when i rev it fully in second gear and when i shift it into 3rd, it makes the noise like i havent pressed clutch fully, and u can hear the crunching in the gears. I have changed the top mount of the engine, since its been fu.. up.

The same noice is happening in the 3rd gear when i am braking and shifting down from 4th to 3rd, is it possible that something else can it be, or should i try to change all my engine mounts, cause i think that engine moves a lot but it doesnt make any noise.

Other than that, the gear changes are completely fine on normal revs...

The car has only 30.000km on it..

What else can it be if not the engine mounts.

sounds like the dreaded gearbox synchro hub failure....

making a "crunch" sound when changing gear = new gearbox

from renault it will be into 0000 figures :001_rolleyes: also depends if you change the clutch as thats another £400

a gearbox specialist be around £500 for a box i would think

That's not so bad, although better not to have the problem in the first place:thumbdown:

No crunching yet anyway, just a stubborn box sometimes lol.

is it possible that the gearbox can fail with only 30.000km on it ???

I mean the synchro is making noice. I had that problem on my megane 225, when the engine mounts were gone, so the rod from the gear stick was moving to much so it couldnt enter the gear. i Donno if that can be a problem with 197.
It only happens at high revs and when braking hard with shifting into 3rd gear. So maybe the engine moves too much. i donno.

yes it is, mine had only done I think 12,000 miles and the gearbox went wrong.

best to have it looked at then you will know for sure.

I have to ask, my car is just 52.000km driven.
When gearbox oils are cold and i change 2->3 it sometimes make that syncro noise. Same thing if i downshift in 90kmh 6->3 and there is little too much rpm so it makes that noise again. But when accelerating hard 1-2-3 there is no any extra noises and gear in fine.

Is this normal or gearbox broken?
