The newer Star Wars films were a bit crap anyway. But Disney has bought Lucas Film and are deciding to revamp the franchise.

Nope. It's too much of a gamble. These days film companies don't have unlimited budgets to throw at films. Look at MGM going bust before making the latest Bond so having to go cap in hand for sponsors.

Its much easier to take a formula you know will sell. Lets face it, no matter what they do with the Star Wars franchise the films will make money, let alone the T.V Series/toys/merchandise that always follows. Add in to that they'll own the rights to Star Wars characters so can use them however and wherever they want now and it should be lucrative.


It's easier than spunking £70-100million on something you hope will make money.

Old films are better - actors are way too good.

Some new or remake films are sh*t - most of new actors are sh*t cos they can't acting!

There not remaking them are they? I thought they were continuing it with episode 7/8/9, guaranteed to make millions and millions, I'll pass my judgement when I've watched them.

They're not remaking them no. All new ones.

I think the special effects will be amazing, and I've just heard the Lucas will still have an input into the projects, so in theory, they could still be very good.
