Manifold advice

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 197 track car, and have noticed the flexis are looking abit worse for wear and also sounds like the pre cat has started to break up. And car feels slightly under powered compared to a mate.

So looking for new/2nd hand manifold options?

What’s best and where to buy?

Thanks

I have found that you will get various different opinions from different people, there are a few options out there:

Toyosports Manifold (Cheapest and the most common) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLES...h=item2a6ba6f500:g:amAAAOSwzyBbl6NG:rk:1:pf:1

Ktec Manifold - http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4927&appid=3

Predator Manifold - https://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tun...tor-styling-exhaust-manifold-rs197-rs200.html

The other option is to get an OEM one with knackered flexis and then have it repaired - I have been quoted £180 for both flexis removed and new high quality flexis fitting, as well as extra welding to ensure the rest of the manifold is all good.

Personally if I had the money, I would go for the predator one - don't hold me to this but it looks like its just a fit and forget item, the Ktec and Toyosports one both have flexis pipes and I have seen a couple of the Toyosports ones that the flexi has failed on and the OEM one still has risk of failing again. The Predator one has eliminated all of these by the looks.

Just as a note, the Predator, Ktec and Toyosports all remove the pre-cat and the car would then benefit from a remap.

Sound mate thank you for taking the time on your reply, think I’ll give a Toyo one a bash just as it seems cheap and I’m now running black powerflex engine mount inserts so there shouldn’t be as much play with the engine on the flexis.

Think that's a good plan mate, they're a great price and seem more than up to the job and numerous people have them now -

I'd be fitting one to mine in the next couple of weeks if I wasn't already running the Akrapovic so have no cat in the exhaust, don't want any issues MOT time so going for fixing the OEM one.

Matt is right with the options but Id say the Toyo's are hit and miss and dont seem to flow as well as original. A middle option is replacing flexi's on original and fitting a Supersprint Y pipe to remove the cat (or bash it out to just get rid of it) but this might prove a bit more expensive than the Toyo option. The original manifold is proven to flow well, the restriction being the cat and the smaller header ports. If the flexi's have lasted this long with standard rubber engine mounts they should be better with poly bushes.
