Loose heat shield

When installing the new exhaust we noticed the heat shield was hanging down a bit and we tried our best to secure it with the oem points but it's still a bit slack over the link pipe after the long straight section. Is there any risk drilling or riveting into the bottom of the car to properly secure this as I'm hearing the heat shield knocking off the exhaust when I'm going over bumps.

just use larger flat washers to secure the shield with the original fixings

Or as my mate did on his Focus the bottom of an old coke can with a hold drilled in it!

Is there any insulating tape or something that can be used along with the heat shield? I've noticed it rattling at idle now too and things like this melt my head. I wish I owned a ramp
