Limited 197 tuning mods available??????

Spoke with K tec today...I was a little disappointed on the amount of tuning mods available for the 197. Seems like a little 'hobsons' choice to me!!! I was thinking whilst the cars in pieces, why not look at whats available but there seems no point.

K tec said the gains from a full exhaust was arguable because the restriction is mainly due to the pre-'cats' in the manifold. No supercharger or turbo conversion as yet. Cup suspension is good anyway. The car comes with brembo's standard. Basically they recommend £245 remap and filter, with a exhaust could give you 15 brake.
Seems like I'm gonna be keeping my money in my pocket with this project....Last project was a supercharged 330 ci BM.
I think this cars good enough standard anyway but would have liked a bolt on 60-80bhp charger or turbo. Anyone stuck a megane engine in a 197?:cloud9:

Also you bought the wrong car for engine mods.

Jonesey is doing someting with a megane engine I believe, I'm happy with the power at the moment but a turbo conversion would be good for the future.
 
Grrrrr....can't find no mods for this car. Can't even get a strut brace without cutting the car to pieces and no uprated ARB's???? Not driven mine yet, are they really that good standard or not enough interest in developing parts for them???
 
Mate Ure not looking hard enough. ARBs meaning 22mm anti roll bars? Available from r sport. They sell cup racer parts. Tbh the car was decent before I started. Kwv3s will transform handling more than u can dream of. Engine parts are readily available and f4r engines from 182 is same internals so that might help u. Depends what u want. thicker ARBs arnt much use if that's all Ure doing. Nod is 1 option non model specific parts will fit if ure willing to make them fit also custom parts can be made. Exhaust 15 bhp Hmmmmm I wish lol u can go to town on the 197 if u want I've even got wilwood 6 pots and 2 pots for the back designed for a escort rs I think but they will be made to fit with a few modifications to the original braking system.

First things first put KW v3's on it then get ureself some cams, inlets polished n ported and a proper highflow decat zorst. Get a decent tuner to correct the cam timing and the car will be transformed signicantly. If u wana go as far as I have it does cost money but u'll be smiling ear to ear with a large lump in ure pants every time u drive it. The problem is once u get the bug it's hard to stop. Sticky Tyres are essential. Brake upgrades should follow power upgrades
 
330ci e46? 197 etc is still new and for what they are still relatively expensive so tuning parts are still in development but they are on there way that can be asured.

Otherwise the chasis is already well sorted the brakes are great etc so for many tuners it would really be worth the effort.

Thanks Woody. Who knows where its gonna take me. Bought a 330ci and supercharger, brembos, carbon and 15k later!!!....so where should I start with F1? Quick checklist

Exhaust
De-cat
Induction or filter
Remap
Coilovers
Brakes
 
Only decat if u go for cams n inlets as it gives u losses in power otherwise.

I would say do it in this order;

Kws or ast's as these are best coilis on market
Engine works
Brembos are fine but get some ap disks only upgrade brake calipers if ure increasing over 50 bhp
Exhaust
Remap ( a live map not a cheap nasty off the shelf ****)

Need any help I'm always here to advise.

I thought an exhaust didn't really add anything to the 197/200? In fact before a remap will give you less power than standard!
 
exhausts are funny things mate. some do some dont, i would only reccomend and exhaust really if u were going to get a map along with the exhaust.
 
then again um lookin at rollin roads when talkin loss of power which is peak power. The benefit of am exhaust which i found out, gainin abit of power/torque bottom 2 midrange.
