KTEC Induction kit

Hi guys. I've recently purchased a new ktec kit and decided to check the piping today to the throttle body; turns out it's quite dirty in there already. Is this normal for an induction kit? The filter does have oil on there which I assume is the correct amount coming from manufacturing. It's only been on the car about 400 miles.

Also, the throttle body has a sooty substence around the edges of the circular plate, is this dirt being ingested?

I'm running Ktec induction kit and I haven't got any issues at all. Nothing is coming through, I've only cleaned it once.

I have the same issue with mine. I think my problem however is due to the fact I think I have probably over oiled the filter when I cleaned it late last year as I also have black residue (probably a bit of oil and crap) being sucked in from the filter itself. I plan the clean it again and see if the black residue goes away. BTW, does anyone else with the K-Tec induction kit have issues with the car making a "fluffing sound" when you take off in first gear? I am not sure if this is being caused by the induction kit or the K-Tec exhaust I have fitted to my car?

Ah! I did have a panel filter on it before that I oiled myself. It's really hard to get it perfect though! No fluffing sound here. Looks to be your exhaust. I can see what you mean by the black residue. It's probably gone from the engine anyway, doubt it would stick inside the valve or cylinders.

Do you think the dirt inside the pipe is just from the factory? I'll probably wash it out in a few weeks and still see if it's being ingested.

Anyone know the easiest way to remove the cone for cleaning too? Yiannis197 Seems like it's stuck in the housing.

If you google soot in throttle body, theres many topics about it on various different forums, most have the same answer.

A bit of a pain mate I'm afraid, I literally had to take the shield to pieces to remove the filter and then assemble everything back together. Also I had to remove the tb as well lol

Next time I'll try and remove the battery instead, might be easier...
